Joint Press Release of City of Frankfurt and DIC
The architectural advisory procedure for two high-rise buildings of the MainTor project will be launched today. Seven renowned architectural firms are asked to present future-orientated drafts for both the "WinX" and the "MainTor Panorama" office buildings. The selection of architectural firms that the City of Frankfurt chose together with owner DIC includes international, national and local architects as well as young, Frankfurt-based newcomers Happ. Additionally, the investor DIC has submitted the building application for the first phase of the "MainTor Porta" in Weißfrauenstrasse to the City of Frankfurt. Approval is expected in Spring 2010.
The deadline to submit the planning documents for the advisory procedure tender is in mid-November 2009. The eight-strong panel consists of renowned and independent construction experts, representatives of the City of Frankfurt and the owners. At the beginning of December, the committee will name a selection of three award winners from the seven submitted drafts. Apart from architecture and usability, the committee will especially focus on the concepts' sustainability: both office buildings are aiming to be awarded a Leed, Green Building Gold or DGNB certificate, for which very strict energy efficiency, ecology and profitability criteria apply. This would mean that the requirements for the Frankfurt high-rise master plan are exceeded.
