The prime location in the city’s Große Theaterstraße/Dammtorstraße area is set to see the creation of a modern site comprising office and retail facilities. It was previously used for administration purposes by the Hamburg opera among others.

A new building is being constructed in Große Theaterstraße directly opposite the opera. Its particular features include a view of the Alster from the attractive roof terraces and a rotunda, which curves round an atrium and allows an efficient use of land with seven floors.

The new building replaces three existing buildings dating from different periods.
