MainTor-Areal, Frankfurt am Main
Location: Inner city of Frankfurt
Development: Transformation of the property into a new city quarter
Usable area: expansion to around 108,000 sqm
Status: in the planning
Main tenant: Evonik Degussa GmbH
Share of DIC group: 100%
DIC group succeeded in the tender for the acquisition of the MainTor property in the city of Frankfurt.
The oldest building was constructed in 1823 based on plans by the city’s chief architect of the time, Johann Friedrich Christian Hess, and now has protected status as a historical building. Most of the remaining buildings, however, date from the second half of the 20th century.
The City of Frankfurt and the DIC Group agreed on an urban reorganisation, which includes the complete redevelopment and opening up of the site to the neighbouring areas of the Frankfurt city centre and down to the river Main.
In consultation with the City of Frankfurt, DIC has reached a final decision on the choice of architectural firms for the two high-rise buildings:
“WinX”: KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten GmbH
“MainTor Panorama”: Prof. Christoph Mäckler Architekten
DIC follows the recommendation of the panel that had already unanimously recommended the combination of these two designs in the previous advisory procedure. Both designs harmonize very well and – together with surrounding buildings – they complement the attractive skyline of Frankfurt.
